Breaking Out of the Box: Stacy Feinberg on Marketing Luxury Glamping with Social Media

In this Social Pulse: Hospitality Edition episode, we tackle the unique challenge of promoting an off-the-beaten-path product—luxury glamping domes—on social media. Agorapulse Chief Storyteller Mike Allton interviews Stacy Feinberg, a former school teacher turned social media expert, and discusses how she’s succeeded in marketing Clear Sky Resorts, a luxury glamping resort that pairs outdoor adventure with high-end accommodations.

Stacy Feinberg: From Teaching to Glamping

Stacy’s venture into glamping was unintentional, though a lucky one at that. “I was homeschooling fifth grade online during the COVID crisis, but soon I was wanting something else,” she says. “My husband Hal was building Clear Sky Resorts by then, and when he opened in 2021, I joined him to assist. It started out of necessity but soon turned into the perfect creative passion for me.”

Clear Sky Resorts will offer the luxury in glamping and combine the high-end amenities with an experiential result in nature. Social media was a channel that became the necessity to market the resort and its spirit in Stacy.

Clear Sky Resorts: An Unmatched Glamping Experience

Clear Sky Resorts feature two stunning locations: one close to the Grand Canyon in Arizona and the other close to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. The resorts offer guests fully equipped domes with skylights and panoramic windows perfect for stargazing. Unlike some other glamping locations that lack air conditioning and indoor plumbing, Clear Sky Resorts offer full-service resorts with dining, housekeeping, and in-house activities such as family activities and stargazing tours.

In fact, Clear Sky Resorts features the first luxury glamping experience on offer, and that involves amenities like air conditioning, private toilets, and a four-star hotel-like experience in nature.

Creating a Social Media Strategy for Glamping

When Stacy started promoting the resort via social media, she had no idea what would unfold. She was immediately aware that social media was the most affordable way of letting prospective vacationers know about Clear Sky’s amenities.

“The secret to social media, as with teaching, is holding people’s attention in a rush,” she states. The same as in the classroom—get your audience on board immediately and have definite aims, but you must adapt rapidly based on feedback.”

How Education Impacts Her Social Media Strategy

Stacy likens teaching to social media writing, particularly in regards to attention span. “Just like you have to engage your classroom audience right away. You then split up your message, see if it was a success, and then modify from there,” she explains. “And, as any educator will tell you, you have to be repeating yourself over and over again to drive the point home.”

Her educational background has influenced her social media approach as well. “As a teacher, you meet the people where they are and determine what they know already,” she goes on. “I do that with social media content as well, talking to my audience and filling in knowledge gaps.”

Social Media Channels That Work Best for Clear Sky

Clear Sky Resorts is on all of the big social media platforms, but Stacy concentrates mostly on Instagram and TikTok. “Instagram is our bread and butter, but TikTok is where we’ve seen a lot of growth,” Stacy states. “We also do Facebook ads successfully, but Instagram and TikTok are where I’m spending most of my time.”

Mike Allton, writer of Social Pulse: Hospitality Edition, also advises thinking of Pinterest as another channel through which to engage with potential travelers looking for their next adventure. “With users on Pinterest planning travel and your content inspiring them to plan a trip to Clear Sky Resorts,” he recommends.

Fan comments are part of Clear Sky’s overall social media plan. “We do take every comment seriously,” Stacy explains. “It helps us set the right expectations and give a realistic vision of what to expect at our resorts.” She tracks DMs, comments, and questions to inform her strategy and cut through the haze.

Stacy also ensures that she learns from guests while producing interactive, visually engaging content. “I’m a big fan of making interactive polls, ‘Ask Me Anything’ sessions, and other fun content with Instagram Stories and also keeping me on my toes and trying to guess what people want to know.”

Getting Clear Sky Resorts Noticed on Social Media

Given the rise of Airbnb-style glamping, Stacy acknowledges the challenge of distinguishing Clear Sky Resorts. “We want to make sure people understand we’re not just offering a basic glamping experience,” she explains. “We offer things like air conditioning, private bathrooms, and unique experiences like live music and stargazing tours.”

Final Thoughts

Stacy’s journey to social media marketing at Clear Sky Resorts demonstrates how an education background can be utilized creatively. From setting expectations to using repetition in messaging, Stacy’s approach combines good content creation with a good understanding of her audience’s requirements.

If you’re looking to expand your brand’s reach, Stacy’s advice is simple: “Engage with your audience, listen to their feedback, and continuously adapt to meet their needs.”
